The Litchfield Fire Department is a non-profit, all volunteer organization. Our volunteers donate hundreds of hours in time and services to provide emergency response 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Our volunteers are neighbors, parents, brothers and sisters, and sons and daughters of our local community.
Litchfield Volunteers:
  • Live and work in our community
  • Sacrifice their time multiple times a week
  • Reduce your insurance costs
  • Save lives and property
  • Need your continued support

In 2011, we had 46 active members logging in over 4,500 volunteer hours. We responded to over 360 fire and/or EMS assistance calls including fire suppression, rescue (i.e. vehicle extrication), cold water rescue, community assistance, and hazardous materials operations. We serve not only Litchfield, but surrounding towns (i.e. Bantam, Torrington, Goshen, Morris) under mutual aid.
